Ipswich Town are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard, who is valued at £20m by the Eagles.

Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in signing Crystal Palace forward Odsonne Edouard.

The 26-year-old has been on the verge of cementing a spot in the starting XI of the Eagles since the departure of playmaker Michael Olise to Bayern Munich earlier in the summer.

Edouard played the second half of Palace's Premier League opener versus Brentford on August 18, before starting the 2-0 loss to West Ham United at Selhurst Park six days later.

Joining the Londoners from Scottish juggernauts Celtic during the summer window of 2021, the Frenchman has featured on 103 occasions for the Eagles, finding the net 21 times.

A product of the Paris Saint-Germain academy, Edouard has excellent pedigree in his home country, also scoring 13 goals in just 12 appearances for Les Bleus' Under-21s side in the past.

Ipswich 'make contact' over Edouard deal

According to journalist Paul Joyce, Crystal Palace's Edouard could be making his way across Premier League battlelines before the conclusion of the summer window.

The report claims that top-flight newcomers Ipswich are interested in signing the 26-year-old, contacting Palace over the possibility of a deal.

It is understood that the East Anglians are looking to complete a loan deal for Edouard, who they would have an obligation to buy next summer.

Although it remains to be seen whether Oliver Glasner's side would be satisfied by such an agreement, it is thought that the Eagles are demanding £20m for the attacker.

With Palace next taking to the pitch at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, Edouard could have already played his final match for his current employers.

Falling down the pecking order

Featuring in 30 Premier League matches across the course of the 2023-24 term, scoring seven goals, Edouard was a vital member of the Palace side who enjoyed a resurgence under the leadership of Glasner.

That being said, the Frenchman was never a guaranteed starter for a squad blessed with plenty of offensive quality, with more reinforcements expected before Friday's deadline.

It is believed that the Eagles and Arsenal have agreed a £30m deal for the transfer of Eddie Nketiah to Selhurst Park, where he is currently completing the final stages of his medical.

As a result, a move to Kieran McKenna's Ipswich would likely provide Edouard with a better chance of securing his status as a Premier League starter during the 2024-25 campaign.
