Ipswich Town's poor form continues with a 2-1 loss to Chalrton Athletic at Portman Road.

Ipswich Town's poor recent form has continued with a 2-1 loss to Charlton Athletic at Portman Road this afternoon.

The hosts enjoyed the first chance of the match when Jason Scotland intercepted Lawrie Wilson's pass before crossing to Daryl Murphy, who saw his header saved.

Dale Stephens came close with a powerful strike from 25 yards towards the end of the half, but Scott Loach was equal to it.

The match really came to life in the opening stages of the second half with three goals in little over 10 minutes.

First, Johnnie Jackson gave Charlton the lead, tapping in an easy finish after Danny Green's cross was kept alive by Salim Kerkar.

This lead was doubled just minutes later as Ricardo Fuller dispossessed Massimo Luongo before taking on a defender and firing his shot into the bottom corner.

Ipswich responded immediately, first through Luongo's strike that went just wide and then through Scotland's effort, which deflected off Michael Morrison to leave Ben Hamer helpless as the ball flew past him to make it 2-1.

Charlton almost put the game to bed late on as Pritchard laid the ball back to Green, but his shot was well saved.

Ipswich came close to grabbing a dramatic late equaliser in stoppage time as the ball fell to Nathan Ellington, but the striker blasted his shot over when he should have done better.
