Sinisa Mihajlovic says that he "was close" to being appointed the Inter Milan boss in the past and hopes to coach the Nerazzurri in the future.

Serbia coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has revealed his intention to coach Inter Milan in the future.

The 43-year-old played for the Nerazzurri between 2004 and 2006 and also served as an assistant to then Inter coach Roberto Mancini from 2006 to 2008.

"I was close to taking charge of Inter in the past, but then nothing came of it," he said.

"It's not a closed chapter though because Inter are a dream for all coaches."

Mihajlovic has coached Italian clubs Bologna, Catania and Fiorentina.
