Steve Bruce slams "ludicrous" injury rule

Steve Bruce calls the rule that forces players off the pitch following treatment "ludicrous" after Hull only had 10 men on when Burnley scored their winner at the KC.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has described the rule that calls for players to leave the pitch after receiving treatment as "ludicrous".

Michael Dawson was off the pitch when Danny Ings scored the only goal of the game for Burnley this afternoon, leaving Hull two points from safety in the Premier League.

Bruce was critical of the rule as he feels Dawson would have been present to clear the ball from danger.

"I'm not making any excuses but that rule is totally and utterly ludicrous," Bruce told BBC Sport. "It is ridiculous that your centre-half has to go off because of a bit of blood on his nose. It was hardly gushing out.

"It's nonsense. It might not have affected the result but it didn't help. You expect Michael Dawson to be standing there and heading the ball clear. It summed up the afternoon for us."

Hull head to Tottenham Hotspur next week in their penultimate match of their season.
