Hull City boss Mike Phelan wins the Premier League Manager of the Month award for August.

Hull City boss Mike Phelan has been named as the Premier League Manager of the Month for August.

Phelan's future at the Tigers is still in doubt as negotiations continue over the full-time position at the KCOM Stadium, but the former Manchester United assistant has been rewarded for his team's performances last month.

On the opening day of the season, Hull defeated defending Premier League champions Leicester City, before they made the long trip to Swansea City and came away with a 2-0 victory.

That was followed by a home fixture with Man United, but despite a third successive display which warranted a positive result, Hull conceded a late goal to allow Jose Mourinho's side to take maximum points.

Hull will attempt to win a third game of the campaign when they travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley on Saturday.
