Steve Bruce: 'Hull City need to respond against Burnley'

Hull City manager Steve Bruce calls on his charges to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat against Arsenal with a result against fellow strugglers Burnley.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has played down his side's 3-1 defeat to a "very, very good" Arsenal side, calling on his charges to get a result against Burnley on Saturday.

An Alexis Sanchez brace and an Aaron Ramsey goal condemned the Tigers to defeat on Monday night, as Stephen Quinn's second-half reply proved nothing more than a consolation.

The result saw Hull drop to 17th in the Premier League table, courtesy of Leicester City having a better goal difference than the Humberside outfit following the final whistle.

Bruce told Sky Sports News after the game: "When you are trying to chase with the quality Arsenal have it is there for everyone to see. It was one of those really difficult evenings and thankfully we stuck at it.

"We wanted to make sure in the second half it was not one of those horrible evenings. We gave ourselves a chance with the goal but we played against a very, very good side and found it difficult.

"We have to respond, they have been used to that over the last couple of years but we have to dust ourselves down and get ready for the next few games because we are still in there with a shout. [The Burnley game] is not going to keep us up or send us down because there are still two games after that. We still have it all to do and it is a big game, we are aware of that. A result will be good."

Following the Clarets clash, Hull travel to Tottenham Hotspur before ending the season with a home game against Manchester United.
