Championship side Huddersfield Town have taken Brian Murphy on a week-long trial.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper has been given the chance to impress by manager Chris Powell following his release by Queens Park Rangers at the end of last season.
"As a club, we are constantly looking at players and Brian's trial period here is in line with that policy," Powell told the club's official website.
"Although we have good strength in our goalkeeping at the moment, it is always prudent to look at what is available on the market. Brian was recommended to Nick Colgan (goalkeeping coach) and we're happy to have a closer look at him for an initial week."
The former Republic of Ireland youth international has played for a host of English clubs, including Manchester City, Ipswich Town and Oldham Athletic.
