Hamburger SV chairman Carl-Edgar Jarchow has revealed that the club's transfer business this summer could see them "operating in the red".
The German club have signed Rafael van der Vaart, Petr Jiracek and Milan Badeji this summer, but Jarchow has revealed his concerns.
"This (the extra money spent on players) is a burden for me. I cannot deal with it that easily," he told Norddeutscher Rundfunk.
"Fortunately these players are all of an age that means they will have certain value in the future. But I definitely fear that this will see us operating in the red. No doubt."
Hamburg currently sit 15th in the Bundesliga table.
