Guangzhou Evergrande crowned Chinese Super League champions

Guangzhou Evergrande become the first team to retain the Chinese Super League title.

Guangzhou Evergrande have been crowned Chinese Super League champions for the second successive year.

They became the first team to retain the title thanks to a late 1-0 win over Liaoning Whowin on Saturday.

Guangzhou, who are managed by Italian World Cup-winning coach Marcello Lippi, are five points clear of Jiangsu Guoxin Sainty with one game left to play.

Lippi took charge of the club over the summer following the sacking of Lee Jang-soo.
