Miguel Guerrero rescues point for Sporting Gijon

Sporting Gijon score twice in the dying stages to rescue a dramatic 3-3 draw against nine-man Granada in their La Liga clash at El Molinon.

Miguel Guerrero rescued a point for Sporting Gijon as they fought back from two goals behind to hold nine-man Granada to an enthralling 3-3 draw at El Molinon.

It was a dramatic finish as Miguel Lopes and Doria both picked up second yellow cards either side of a Nacho Cases strike which offered hope for Sporting, and Guerrero struck in the sixth minute of stoppage time to ensure Granada remained bottom.

The signs inside the opening eight minutes suggested that Sporting would be on top as they claimed an early lead through Bernardo Espinosa, who finished off a short corner routine by heading home from Alberto Lora's cross at the back post.

However, Granada responded well to the setback to get back on level terms when Youssef El Arabi met a low cross at the front post with a miscued strike that flicked off teammate Piti to hand the visitors an equaliser.

Granada continued to look the more threatening after the response and they deservedly led before the break when Isaac Success produced a moment of magic by collecting the ball on the left before cutting inside to pick out the top corner with an unstoppable strike.

Sporting enjoyed their fair share of possession in the second half, but they were reduced to speculative efforts for long spells as the away side created more chances, with an unmarked Lopes heading wide from an inviting free kick.

Any hopes of a comeback by the hosts appeared to be dashed with less than 20 minutes remaining as Success sprinted clear on the break and forced a save from Garcia Alberto, who could only look on helplessly as El Arabi reacted to the loose ball with an effort which took a deflection on the edge of the box on the way in.

Lopes put Granada under pressure in the closing stages by picking up a second yellow card to leave his side a man down with nine minutes of normal time remaining.

The hosts reduced the deficit when Nacho Cases fired home after Alen Halilovic had headed the ball into his path.

Another twist arrived in stoppage time when Doria was shown a second yellow as the referee reduced the away side to nine men, and Sporting capitalised as Pablo Perez found Guerrero, who kept his composure to slot home the equaliser with just seconds remaining.
