Joachim Low to remain as Germany coach for 2018 World Cup

The DFB confirms that Joachim Low will remain in charge of the German national team until after the 2018 World Cup.

The German Football Association (DFB) has confirmed that Joachim Low will remain the national team's manager until after the 2018 World Cup.

Low has been in charge of Die Mannschaft for the past 10 years, helping them to reach at least the semi-finals of every major competition since his arrival.

The 56-year-old's crowning glory came two years ago when he steered Germany to their fourth World Cup title in Brazil courtesy of a penalty shootout victory over Argentina.

The three-time European champions once again made it to the last four of this summer's tournament, but they were beaten by hosts and eventual runners-up France at Euro 2016.

However, the DFB has now confirmed that Low has been given a two-year extension to his contract, which will see him take charge of the team during qualifying for the 2018 World Cup as well the tournament itself.

Low boasts a 77% win ratio in competitive matches as Germany manager.
