Rene Meulensteen: 'Dimitar Berbatov proves commitment to cause'

Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen says that Dimitar Berbatov has shown his commitment to the club following the striker's impressive performance against Aston Villa.

Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen has said that Dimitar Berbatov has shown his commitment to the club following the striker's impressive performance against Aston Villa this afternoon.

Berbatov, who has been linked with a move away from Fulham, grabbed a brace as his side kept their survival hopes alive with a 2-0 victory at Craven Cottage.

"I thought he was excellent [in the 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur] on Wednesday as well and today again you saw what he was capable of doing," Meulensteen told reporters.

"We know what games we have coming up all the way to January and he's fully committed to Fulham and the games we've got ahead of us. I couldn't be more delighted with his performance, it shows he cares."

Fulham find themselves in 18th position in the Premier League following their victory this afternoon.
