Kit Symons left frustrated as draw leaves Fulham 15 points off playoff places

Fulham manager Kit Symons admits that their playoff hopes are slim after drawing 1-1 with Birmingham City in the Championship.

Fulham manager Kit Symons has said that his side should have turned their second-half domination into three points as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Birmingham City.

Hugo Rodallega scored after just five minutes for the hosts at Craven Cottage, but they were pegged back by a David Cotterill free kick.

Symons now admits that Fulham's Championship playoff hopes appear bleak, but he still has faith that his team can go on a strong run.

He told reporters: "The playoffs are an awful long way away and every time we drop points it gets that little bit further. We will aim to finish as high as we can and do as well as we can.

"Tuesday away at Bolton is now a big game for us and we will focus and put together a plan for that. I think this side is capable of going on a run and that could get us closer to the playoffs but I'm sure there are a lot of other sides in this division that feel the same way.

"We started very brightly but it was almost a case of scoring too soon. It was a very good goal but we stepped back a little bit. They got more into the game but most of their opportunities were from our mistakes. The second half we started a bit slow but then dominated from there. In the end we are disappointed that we have not gone on and won it."

Fulham sit 16th in the Championship table, 15 points adrift of the playoff places.
