Sascha Riether delighted with Fulham response

Fulham defender Sascha Riether is relieved that Fulham won the vital six-pointer against West Ham United.

Fulham right-back Sascha Riether has revealed that it was important for the team to bounce back from their 6-0 defeat to Hull City with a 2-1 win against West Ham United on New Year's Day, which moved them out of the relegation zone.

Riether said that there was not much time to dwell on the poor result but that it was vital the Cottagers took all three points from the Hammers clash.

"After Hull it was important that you give the right answer and we did that in a six-pointer against West Ham," Sky Sports News quotes Riether as saying. "The result against Hull was not good, we wanted to get some points. We were in the changing room after that performance and we didn't know what had happened.

"When something like that happens it's important you forget it as soon as possible because at the moment every few days you have a match. The manager found the right words and you saw the response on the pitch.

"We got the three points against West Ham, but just as importantly was that we created a lot of chances and applied a lot of pressure."

Fulham face Sunderland in their next Premier League game.
