Blaise Matuidi talks up importance of second leg against Ukraine

Blaise Matuidi describes France's second leg of their World Cup qualification playoff against Ukraine as the "most important" match of his career.

France midfielder Blaise Matuidi has described tomorrow night's second leg of their World Cup qualification playoff against Ukraine as the "most important" match of his career.

Les Bleus have to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit at the Stade de France tomorrow night and Matuidi has called on his teammates to play with their 'heart, guts and head'.

The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder told the French Football Federation's official website: "For most of us, it is the most important game in our careers.

"We all want to show something different to what we did on Friday. We have to be stronger in the battles and improve our technical quality.

"We have to play with heart, with guts, but with the head as well. We have to score but we cannot afford to let in a goal."

If France fail to qualify, then it will be the first time that they have failed to reach a World Cup finals since 1994.
