Newcastle United's new striker Emmanuel Riviere has admitted that part of his reason for joining the Magpies is to boost his chances of playing in the France national team.
The 24-year-old, who has represented his country at Under-21 level, sealed a long-term deal with the North-East outfit yesterday.
"For that too, I signed here. I want to get into the France team," Sky Sports News quotes Riviere as saying.
"I want to adapt quickly to the Premier League because the Premier League is not Ligue 1. Ligue 1 is different. I want to work hard to adapt fast to the Premier League and play at Newcastle."
The forward spent a year at Monaco before moving to St James' Park.
