Fiorentina striker Giuseppe Rossi has revealed that he would like to return to the Italy squad.
Two knee injuries have prevented the 26-year-old from turning out for the Azzurri in over two years.
However, despite a recent calf complaint, the former Manchester United player is hopeful that five goals for La Viola so far this campaign will be enough to capture the attention of Italy coach Cesare Prandelli.
"Physically I'm fine, I'm healing and I hope to be there against Lazio. There'll be an assessment after a few tests in training over the next few days, and then we'll decide," he told Tuttosport
"I'm always optimistic. Of course, I think about a possible Azzurri call-up but first I must focus on being 100% ready for Sunday's game."
Rossi has scored six goals at senior international level.
