Wednesday's Major League Soccer predictions including Inter Miami vs. Atlanta United

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Major League Soccer fixtures, including Inter Miami vs. Atlanta United.

Cincinnati vs. Nashville (Thursday, 12.30am)

FC Cincinnati set out looking to pick up an eighth consecutive victory when they go head to head with Nashville SC at the TQL Stadium on Wednesday.

Having failed to win their opening five league games away from home this season, the Boys in Gold will head into the midweek clash in search of their first MLS away win since last September's 3-0 victory at Sporting Kansas City.

We say: FC Cincinnati 2-1 Nashville SC

Looking at past meetings between Cincinnati and Nashville, we anticipate another action-packed contest with plenty of goalmouth action. Noonan's men are currently firing on all cylinders and we predict they will continue their blistering run by claiming all three points once again.

Inter Miami vs. Atlanta (Thursday, 12.30am)

If Inter Miami can claim a win or draw on Wednesday against Atlanta United, it would set a single-season franchise record for their longest MLS unbeaten run at Chase Stadium.

A narrow 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday kept the Herons on top of the Supporters' Shield standings, one point above FC Cincinnati, while the Five Stripes extended their winless run in this competition to nine matches, with a 1-0 defeat at home to Los Angeles FC.

We say: Inter Miami 2-0 Atlanta United

Over the weekend, the Herons made a statement that they are capable of winning and being a quality side, even without their three best players.

The Five Stripes' frustrations are boiling over, and their top players are not 100%, so we project their winless run will reach double-digits.

Montreal vs. DC United (Thursday, 12.30am)

CF Montreal can end a nine-match winless run in all competitions on Wednesday when they host DC United at Saputo Stadium for the first time in the 2024 MLS campaign.

Their 0-0 draw at home to Nashville SC has given Le CFM 13 points in the regular season, five fewer than DC in the race for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot after the Black and Red earned a 1-1 result against the Chicago Fire.

We say: CF Montreal 1-0 DC United

Although they failed to emerge victorious on Saturday, Montreal were a lot sharper on the back end, and we believe that Le CFM will manage to defeat a side in DC, who have not been as decisive in the attacking third of late and have rarely won away from home.

NY Red Bulls vs. Charlotte FC (Thursday, 12.30am)

Charlotte FC will be looking to pick up consecutive away wins for the first time this season when they journey to the Red Bull Arena to face New York Red Bulls on Wednesday.

The Red Bulls, on the other hand, head into the midweek tie as one of just three MLS sides yet to suffer defeat on home turf this season and will be looking to extend this impressive run.

We say: New York Red Bulls 3-1 Charlotte FC

The previous six meetings between New York Red Bulls and Charlotte have produced a combined 21 goals and we anticipate another action-packed contest at the Red Bull Arena. Schwarz's men have picked up three wins and one draw in their four home games against the Crows and we fancy them to come away with the desired results once again.

Philadelphia vs. Toronto (Thursday, 12.30am)

On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Union will begin a three-match MLS homestand when they host Toronto at Subaru Park in Chester.

The Union went undefeated on their recent two-game road trip, earning a 0-0 draw versus Charlotte FC last Saturday, moving them to within four points of TFC, who were narrowly beaten 4-3 at home to FC Cincinnati.

We say: Philadelphia Union 3-2 Toronto

While the Union have been unusually poor at home this year, they will face a Toronto side yet to prove they can be consistently solid defensively, an area that Philly have improved upon in recent outings.

Austin vs. Portland (Thursday, 1.30am)

Austin FC head coach Josh Wolff looks on on March 3, 2024© Reuters

Austin FC will be looking to pick up a fifth consecutive home victory when they play host to Portland Timbers at the Q2 Stadium on Wednesday.

The Timbers head into the midweek tie unbeaten in each of their last five games against the home side since November 2021 and will be looking to extend this impressive run.

We say: Austin FC 2-0 Portland Timbers

Austin will be licking their lips as they take on an inconsistent Portland side who have failed to win their last seven away matches. Wolff's men have been near impenetrable at the Q2 Stadium this season and we see them claiming all three points in front of their home supporters.

Chicago Fire vs. Orlando City (Thursday, 1.30am)

Seeking to snap their run of seven consecutive games without a win, Chicago Fire go head to head with Orlando City at Soldier Field on Wednesday.

Having lost each of the last three meetings between the sides, the Men in Red also head into the midweek clash looking to get one over the visitors and get their season up and running.

We say: Chicago Fire 1-2 Orlando City

While Chicago Fire will be looking to find their feet, they face the stern challenge of taking on an Orlando side who have been rock-solid on the road in recent weeks. The Lions have won their last three games versus the home side and we see them extending this run on Wednesday.

Houston vs. Colorado (Thursday, 1.30am)

Houston Dynamo FC head coach Ben Olsen looks on on March 24, 2024© Reuters

Two sides who are currently fighting for a place in the top nine of the Western Conference come together on Thursday when Houston Dynamo host Colorado Rapids at the BBVA Compass Stadium in the MLS.

The hosts are in eighth place with a game in hand on those below them, while the visitors are sixth and hold a six-point lead over 10th place.

We say: Houston Dynamo 1-1 Colorado Rapids

Houston have had a disappointing run of fixtures coming into this game and will be far from pleased with their performances at home so far this campaign, and while the Rapids have had a much better start this year they have failed to win at this stadium in either of the last two meetings, and we expect that to continue with a draw here.

Kansas vs. Vancouver (Thursday, 1.30am)

A pair of MLS sides can end their lengthy winless runs on Wednesday as Sporting Kansas City host the Vancouver Whitecaps at Children's Mercy Park.

On Saturday, Sporting suffered a fifth successive league defeat when the Portland Timbers beat them 2-1, while the Caps have just a single point from their last four domestic encounters after narrowly losing 2-1 to Inter Miami.

We say: Sporting Kansas City 1-1 Vancouver Whitecaps

Neither side are in great form at the moment, while three of the previous four meetings between these two have resulted in either a draw or a one-goal victory.

They are both low on confidence and struggling to create much going forward, which is why we are projecting a stalemate in this midweek clash.

LA Galaxy vs. Dallas (Thursday, 3.30am)

LA Galaxy (Los Angeles Galaxy) head coach Greg Vanney looks on on February 24, 2024© Reuters

In the first game of their difficult four-day stay in Los Angeles, FC Dallas are scheduled to take on Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday followed by a match against Los Angeles FC on Sunday.

The visitors are 12th in the Western Conference after 13 games, while the hosts are flying high in third with 25 points from 15 outings in the MLS.

We say: Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1 Dallas

Dallas may have enjoyed this fixture in recent seasons, going undefeated with five wins in the last six, but LA Galaxy's start to the campaign has them as the favourites heading into this one, and we expect the hosts to come out triumphant here.

Seattle vs. Salt Lake (Thursday, 3.30am)

Seattle Sounders FC head coach Brian Schmetzer on February 25, 2024© Reuters

Seattle Sounders, currently in ninth place, are poised to face the high-flying Real Salt Lake, who currently lead the Western Conference standings, at CenturyLink Field in Major League Soccer.

The hosts lost the reverse fixture between these two sides earlier in the season, leaving them out for revenge when they match up on Thursday morning.

We say: Seattle Sounders 1-1 Real Salt Lake

Seattle have drawn four times in the league when playing at home this season, the second most of any team in the MLS, and with Salt Lake drawing four times on the road this year, we expect this one to end all square.

Los Angeles vs. Minnesota Utd (Thursday, 3.45am)

Los Angeles FC (LAFC) head coach Steve Cherundolo before the match on February 25, 2024© Reuters

Fourth-placed Los Angeles FC take on second-placed Minnesota United on Thursday in a clash at the top of the table in the Western Conference.

The hosts trail their opponents by just a single point after 14 matches, but the visitors do have a game in hand yet to be played.

We say: Los Angeles FC 1-1 Minnesota United

These two sides come into this game extremely evenly matched across all departments and with five of their 11 meetings ending in draws, we expect this one to follow that trend and end all square.
