Roberto Martinez happy for Ross Barkley to go the World Cup

Everton boss Roberto Martinez says that hei s content with Ross Barkley wanting to go the World Cup.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that he will welcome whatever decision England manager Roy Hodgson reaches on Ross Barkley's World Cup chances.

The youngster has an outside shot of making the 23-man squad after an impressive season at Goodison Park, and the Spanish boss has said that he will be content no matter what his midfielder's situation is this summer.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Ross wants to play as many minutes as he can and at the end of the season we will be able to assess things - and the national team manager will have an idea of what he wants from Ross – or if he needs Ross or not.

"I think we're in a position that we will welcome whatever his decision is. If the decision is to give Ross a rest then it would be great for Ross to take the demands of the season into consideration and then have a rest.

"If he is asked to go to Brazil he is ready to embrace whatever that role is without feeling under pressure and not enjoying the occasion. I think Ross will take every game as it comes."

The Blues are currently sixth in the Premier League.
