Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes that loan signing Gerard Deulofeu is a "real diamond" of Spanish football.

Roberto Martinez has described Gerard Deulofeu as a "real diamond" of Spanish football.

The teenager will spend the 2013-14 season with Everton, after the club signed the forward on a season-long loan from Barcelona earlier today.

The Toffees manager told the team's website: "Gerard is a real diamond of Spanish football and a boy with incredible footballing talent and I am delighted that he has chosen to take the next step of his career with Everton."

Deulofeu spent last season with Barcelona B in the Segunda Division, scoring 18 goals for the side.
