Tim Cahill open to Everton loan return

Tim Cahill says that he is open to the possibility of returning to Everton for a loan spell later this season.

Tim Cahill has said that he has not ruled out the possibility of returning to Everton in the future.

The Australian left the Toffees last week after eight years on Merseyside to sign for the New York Red Bulls.

Cahill says that he could follow the lead of US-based players such as Landon Donovan and Thierry Henry who have returned to the Premier League for short-term loan spells.

The 32-year-old told reporters: "If something can work and fit to the training regime, because I've committed my future to the Red Bulls, and going on loan might not be the right thing for the football club.

"But if it works out that I can find the right happy medium to get the fitness and keep training and to play in certain games, then maybe yes."

Cahill is set to make his debut for the Red Bulls in a friendly against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.
