Everton score a late penalty to claim a 3-2 win over Watford, who missed a stoppage-time spot kick of their own, in Sunday's Premier League game at Goodison Park.

Everton have come from two goals down to claim a 3-2 win over Watford in Sunday's dramatic Premier League encounter at Goodison Park.

The Hornets opened the scoring in the 46th minute as a rapid counter-attack saw Richarlison collect Andre Gray's pass before rounding goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and slotting home at the near post.

Everton nearly equalised within a few minutes, however, as Gylfi Sigurdsson forced a save from Heurelho Gomes, who also kept out Wayne Rooney's effort on the rebound but suffered a head gash in the process.

Christian Kabasele then doubled the visitors' lead in the 64th minute as he got the better of Phil Jagielka to head a corner kick into the net, leaving the Toffees with a mountain to climb.

However, Watford defender Jose Holebas and sub goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis both hesitated when a through-ball was played into danger, allowing Oumar Niasse to nip in and fire home on 67 minutes.

Everton went on to draw level in the 74th minute as a deep corner from Leighton Baines to the back post was headed beyond Karnezis by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

More drama was to come in the game as Holebas was adjudged to have brought Aaron Lennon down in the box, prompting the referee to award the hosts a 91st-minute penalty.

Baines stepped up and duly rifled his spot kick into the bottom left corner, putting Everton ahead with 10 more minutes of stoppage time to play.

In the ninth minute of added time, Watford won a penalty of their own as Pickford brought down Richarlison, but Tom Cleverley rifled his effort well wide of the right-hand post.
