Nikica Jelavic claims the Everton can "aim high" this season following their recent victory over Manchester United.

Everton striker Nikica Jelavic has claimed that the club can "aim high" this season following their victory over Manchester United.

The Toffees earned their first opening win since 2007 as Marouane Fellaini's goal gave them a 1-0 triumph at Goodison Park on Monday.

"We can aim high, not only because of this victory but because we have a really good team," Jelavic told Croatian newspaper Vecernji.

"We are like one big family and we also signed some great players this summer. You could all see at the United game that we are really strong this season."

The Merseysiders continue their campaign at Aston Villa on Saturday.
