Royston Drenthe dropped for disciplinary reasons

Everton reveal that on-loan Real Madrid midfielder Royston Drenthe was dropped from yesterday's FA Cup semi-final squad because of a "disciplinary matter".

Everton have today revealed that Royston Drenthe was dropped from the squad for yesterday's Merseyside FA Cup semi-final because of disciplinary reasons.

Drenthe, 25, didn't travel with David Moyes's 18-man squad to Wembley, where Everton lost out to a late Andy Carroll header.

An Everton spokesman said: "Royston Drenthe has been the subject of a disciplinary matter. This has been dealt with internally and the club will be making no further comment."

The on-loan Real Madrid midfielder has today been linked with a switch to Everton's conquerers and greatest rivals Liverpool.
