Royston Drenthe could reportedly snub a move to Everton in order to join local rivals Liverpool.
The Dutchman is currently on loan at Goodison Park from Real Madrid until the end of the season.
However, the 25-year-old will be a free agent in the summer.
Liverpool may now muscle out Everton by matching the defender's £80,000-per-week wages from Madrid, according to The Sun.
Drenthe is currently out of the Everton side while on compassionate leave.
