Seamus Coleman: 'Everton capable of better'

Everton defender Seamus Coleman believes that the team are capable of playing better in the Premier League.

Seamus Coleman has said that Everton are capable of playing "a lot better" than they have been in the Premier League recently.

The Toffees have not won in their last five league outings, with three of their last four ending in defeat, which leaves them just six points clear of the relegation zone.

The defender told ESPN: "I can't work it out. Teams now come to Goodison Park and show us that respect. Maybe they sit back and come for a draw and try to catch us on the counter-attack.

"It is something we have struggled to deal with this season, but we know we are capable of a lot better. It is about us putting it right. Goodison is full every week and, as a fan, we appreciate they are not happy. We hope they stick with us and we can turn it around.

"We wanted to do better after the great season we had last year, but we have to believe we can start moving forward, and if we can pick up a big win and get some momentum, it can all turn around very quickly."

Despite their domestic form, Everton are the last remaining English side in the Europa League.
