Wigan Athletic score three times in four minutes to take a firm grip on their FA Cup quarter-final with Everton at Goodison Park.

Wigan Athletic are in complete control of their FA Cup quarter-final against Everton after scoring three times in under four minutes at Goodison Park.

The home side went close early on as Sylvain Distin headed wide, but from then on Wigan started to stamp their authority on the match.

Shaun Maloney curled a strike off the post before Arouna Kone headed over from close range.

The visitors took the lead on 28 minutes when Maynor Figueroa evaded Leon Osman at the far post to beat Jan Mucha with a header into the bottom corner.

Less than a minute later Everton were two down as Callum McMananman burst past Phil Neville before finishing coolly from a tight angle.

Jordi Gomez left David Moyes absolutely stunned just two minutes later with a measured finish from 20 yards that left Mucka with no chance.

Everton were unable to find a response before the break and need three goals in the second half to keep their FA Cup dream alive.
