England left-back Luke Shaw has described his World Cup experience as "unbelievable", despite the Three Lions failing to qualify for the knockout rounds in Brazil.
The 18-year-old was handed a place in Roy Hodgson's squad ahead of Ashley Cole, and made his first appearance in yesterday's goalless draw with Costa Rica.
"It was unbelievable to play in a World Cup game - the biggest stage in football," PA quotes Shaw as saying. "It is something I will learn from but, on the other side, I am devastated we didn't get the win.
"Whether you play or not, you gain massive experience. In training, you are training with world-class players day in, day out. And it is something that you will learn from.
"Even sitting on the bench, you see what it is like, you see how everything is and you take in the atmosphere."
England finished their campaign at the bottom of Group D with just one point.
