Sven-Goran Eriksson predicts a Sweden win against England as the Three Lions "will struggle to score" in the quarter-final encounter.

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has backed his native Sweden to come out on top in Saturday's World Cup quarter-final in Samara.

The 70-year-old took charge of the Three Lions at three major tournaments after becoming the first foreigner to be appointed in the role.

Sweden now stand in England's way for a place in the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time since 1990, with the sides overcoming Switzerland and Colombia respectively in the last 16.

Eriksson does not believe that his former side's current crop have it in them to score against the Blue-Yellow, however, telling Expressen: "England will struggle to score against Sweden.

"I believe it will be a Swedish win. And as a Swede my hopes are with Sweden. Given how they are playing now I believe they can go all the way.

"Will I be there? I have yet to decide, but I might go. It will be a fantastic World Cup quarter-final; a tough and hard fight between Sweden and England."

Sweden last reached the World Cup final in 1958 as the host nation when they lost to Brazil.
