Martin O'Neill believes that Harry Redknapp should be the next England coach after Fabio Capello's resignation.

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has added his voice to the growing calls for Harry Redknapp to be named as the next England manager.

Fabio Capello resigned on Wednesday evening after four years at the helm of the national team.

"If there is anybody to succeed Fabio Capello it is Harry Redknapp," O'Neill, who has also been linked with the role, told ITV Sport.

"[Redknapp] has earned the right to do so and I think Harry Redknapp will be the next England manager and he deserves to be so."

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney also gave his support to Redknapp on Wednesday evening.
