Former England coach Fabio Capello denies that he made comments claiming that he felt "insulted" by the FA.

Former England coach Fabio Capello has denied reports that he claimed to be insulted by the FA's decision to strip John Terry of the captain's armband.

The Italian resigned from his post on Wednesday after four years in charge.

Following the announcement, Capello was quoted in Italian reports saying that the FA 'damaged his authority' by not consulting him over the Terry matter.

However, he has since said that the quotes were false.

"I did not say anything and will not say anything," he told ANSA. "Any quotes put in my mouth are false."

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is the current favourite to succeed Capello.
