Gary Neville 'open to working as Sam Allardyce's assistant coach with England'

Gary Neville is reportedly open to returning as England assistant coach if Sam Allardyce is appointed as the new manager.

Gary Neville is reportedly open to working as an assistant coach to Sam Allardyce if the Sunderland boss is given the England manager's job.

Allardyce is believed to be a leading contender for the role, and was interviewed by the Football Association yesterday.

Neville worked as an England coach for four years before stepping down from his role, following manager Roy Hodgson after the Three Lions' last-16 exit at Euro 2016 in June.

According to The Mirror, Neville would consider returning to the England setup if Allardyce is appointed as Hodgson's successor.

The report adds that the former Manchester United captain would juggle the role with a Sky Sports punditry job, which he vacated to become Valencia manager in December last year.

Neville was sacked by the Spanish club three months later.
