FIFA allow England players to wear poppies on black armbands for Saturday's friendly against Spain at Wembley.

FIFA has agreed to allow the England football team to wear poppies during Saturday's friendly against Spain at Wembley.

Players will now be allowed to wear the flower on black armbands for the game.

Football's world governing body had previously banned the side from displaying the flower, saying that it breached their rule that international teams must not show political, religious or commercial messages on their shirts.

It is believed that a senior Conservative MP suggested that the poppy should appear on the armband.

The news comes after Prime Minister David Cameron and Prince William had written to FIFA condemning their objection to the mark of respect.
