Sergio Mantecon leaves Elche

Sergio Mantecon departs Elche following the expiration of his contract.

Elche have revealed that experienced midfielder Sergio Mantecon has departed the club following the expiration of his contract.

The 33-year-old, who joined Elche from Castellon in 2010, played a key role in their promotion to La Liga during the 2012-13 season.

However, the Madrid-born midfielder made just 12 league appearances last season.

"Elche CF wants to thank Sergio Mantecon for his services rendered during these last four seasons, in which the captain has always shown his professionalism and involvement, in the growth of our club. We wish him the very best of luck with his career," read a statement from Elche.

Mantecon reportedly has offers from a number of Segunda clubs.
