Former Liverpool striker Florent Sinama Pongolle has reportedly been handed a trial by Dundee United.
The 31-year-old, who made 38 Premier League appearances for the Reds, has been without a club since he departed Swiss outfit Lausanne in the summer.
However, according to the Daily Record, United boss Mixu Paatelainen has presented Pongolle with the opportunity to earn himself a contract with the Scottish Premiership strugglers.
The report adds that Paatelainen has recently stepped up his pursuit of a centre-forward following an injury sustained by Mario Bilate.
As well as Liverpool, one-time France international Pongolle has played for Atletico Madrid, Real Zaragoza and Chicago Fire.
