Kalifa Cisse has signed a short-term contract at Derby County that will keep him at the club until mid-January 2014.
The 29-year-old joined the Rams on a non-contract basis and impressed enough on his debut against Sheffield Wednesday to earn a new deal.
First team coach Paul Simpson told the club's official website: "Kalifa did well against Sheffield Wednesday and it's pleasing that he will be sticking around for a bit longer."
Cisse had been a free agent after leaving MLS outfit New England Revolution. He has previously played for Reading and Bristol City in England.
