Saturday's MLS predictions including DC United vs. Columbus Crew

Sports Mole provides score predictions for all of Saturday's MLS fixtures, including DC United vs. Columbus Crew.

Inter Miami vs. NY City (Saturday, 6.30pm)

Inter Miami's hopes of reaching the playoff series this year are now all but out of reach with only two games left to play of the regular season, while New York City FC must ensure that they avoid a late drop out of the top seven in the Eastern Conference.

New York are currently sitting in fourth, only four points clear of Montreal and state rivals New York Red Bulls, who both have a game in hand on the Pigeons at this late stage of the campaign.

We say: Inter Miami 0-2 New York City FC

Inter Miami are likely to be deflated in their remaining two games as they have allowed the playoff places to slip away from them, and New York City are expected to take full advantage of that on Saturday.

After two consecutive wins, the away side will be confident and they have beaten Neville's team once before this season, suggesting that they are favourites for this weekend's clash.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Salt Lake vs. Earthquakes (Saturday, 8.30pm)

After snatching victory from the jaws of defeat earlier this week, Real Salt Lake have another massive fixture on Saturday when they host the San Jose Earthquakes at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Claret and Cobalt moved back above the playoff line in the Western Conference with a come from behind victory, 2-1 over Dallas, while the Quakes will miss the postseason for the third time in their last four campaigns after falling 2-0 to the Portland Timbers.

We say: Real Salt Lake 2-1 San Jose Earthquakes

They have been playing with fire lately, but when you have the kind of quality that RSL possess in Kreilach and Rusnak, you can play poorly at times and still win, especially against non-playoff teams like Dallas and San Jose because all it takes is one opening for everything to change.

The Quakes know precisely where they are going to end up as they cannot finish any higher or lower than 10th, so we expect to see plenty of new faces in the starting 11 and some old ones who do not feature much anymore, so with all of that being said we may not see a ton of motivation from the Goonies in this one.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

NY Red Bulls vs. Montreal (Saturday, 9.00pm)

A massive three points in the Eastern Conference playoff race will be on the line at Red Bull Arena on Saturday as CF Montreal make a short trip over to the Big Apple to face the New York Red Bulls.

New York saw their eight-match unbeaten run fall to DC United 1-0 in midweek, while Montreal have not lost in their last four games but are still on the outside of the playoff picture in ninth, a point back of the Red Bulls, who are eighth.

We say: New York Red Bulls 1-1 CF Montreal

One goal is about as much as we can expect from these two sides, who have done a great job of limiting time and space to the opposition at the expense of creating a lot of quality scoring chances themselves.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Atlanta vs. Toronto (Saturday, 11.00pm)

Atlanta United FC forward Josef Martinez (7) celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal against DC United at Audi Field on August 24, 2021© Reuters

Atlanta United and Toronto will renew hostilities only weeks after the Five Stripes won 2-0 in Toronto in a heated match, which saw a sending off for each side and a total of 30 fouls committed.

It is another enormous encounter for Atlanta, who are in sixth, two points above the playoff line, while the Reds are out of postseason contention with two games remaining.

We say: Atlanta United 2-0 Toronto

The Five Stripes are unbeaten in their last five home fixtures, while the Reds have not been able to get the job done throughout much of this season because of some shocking defending, which has not got any better.

With someone as potent as Josef Martinez to call upon, you have to think that he and his teammates will be able to find a way to put a few past the helpless Reds.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

DC United vs. Columbus Crew (Sunday, 12.30am)

The Eastern Conference is entering the business stage of the season when sides are closing in on qualification to the playoffs, and both DC United and Columbus Crew are still in the fight to finish in the top seven.

DC United currently occupy the final playoff position, but the two teams below them, New York Red Bulls and Montreal have a game in hand on Hernan Losada's side, while Columbus sit in 10th and three points behind Sunday's hosts.

We say: DC United 1-1 Columbus Crew

Both teams picked up vital victories in their last matches against fellow playoff chasing teams, which could make Sunday's encounter more of a cagey affair as neither team will want to follow their last results up with defeat.

There have been at least two goals in each of Columbus Crew's last nine games between themselves and their opponents, which is why both teams are likely to get on the scoresheet this weekend.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Dallas vs. Austin (Sunday, 1.00am)

FC Dallas forward Jesus Ferreira (9) celebrates with teammates and fans after scoring a goal during the second half against Austin FC at Toyota Stadium on August 7, 2021© Reuters

Even though the postseason is out of reach for both Dallas and Austin FC, there is still something to play for on Saturday at Toyota Stadium when the two Texas rivals face off.

A victory for the Verde-and-Black would give them the Copa Tejas, a trophy created in 2019 for the best USL club in Texas, which is being awarded for the first time this year to a club in MLS.

We say: Dallas 2-1 Austin FC

The Copa Tejas is not exactly a highly sought after trophy, but look for Dallas to end their losing run against an Austin side who have lacked creativity and quality in the final third away from home.
