Queens Park Rangers' director of football Les Ferdinand has claimed that Crystal Palace asked about the possibility of signing Eberechi Eze in January.
Having contributed 12 goals and eight assists in the Championship this season, Eze is expected to eventually move to a club in the Premier League.
However, despite the Eagles enquiring about the 21-year-old, Ferdinand has suggested that there was little possibility of the playmaker departing Loftus Road at the beginning of 2020.
Speaking to The Beautiful Game podcast, Ferdinand said: "Palace made an enquiry but we never got to any fee or any negotiations in terms of what it was going to take.
"They made an enquiry about him and that was it. I think if you look at his footballing abilities, I could put him down as one of the best I've seen in terms of what I've played with and been fortunate to play with during my career."
Eze has less than 16 months remaining on his contract with the Championship outfit.
