Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward out for up to four weeks

Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward suffers a knee injury in training and could be out for up to four weeks.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has revealed that Joel Ward will be out for up to four weeks after suffering a knee injury in training.

The 25-year-old, who scored twice in the opening month of the season against Arsenal and Chelsea, could miss up to five games with the problem.

"Unfortunately we've lost Joel Ward this week," Pardew told reporters. "After his great performance against Chelsea he's got injured in training and will definitely be out for three to four weeks, so that's a blow to us."

Palace face Manchester City in a top-of-the-table clash this Saturday after winning three of their opening four matches last month.
