Marouane Chamakh proud of Crystal Palace victory

Crystal Palace forward Marouane Chamakh reveals his pride at scoring twice to help the team beat Southampton in the FA Cup.

Crystal Palace forward Marouane Chamakh has expressed his pride at helping the team to reach the FA Cup fifth round.

Chamakh scored twice for the Eagles on Saturday as they earned a 3-2 win over fellow Premier League side Southampton at St Mary's Stadium.

Following a spell on the sidelines through injury, the Moroccan admits that he was glad to be back on the pitch and back among the goals.

"I'm happy because we won and I scored, but we were also better than them and that's why I'm very proud of this victory," he told the club's official website.

"I was really happy to get two goals as during the week I didn't know I was going to start the game as I haven't played for the last six weeks.

"I found out I was playing on Thursday so it was really important for me to enjoy the sensation of playing with the team again because they've played really well since the new manager arrived and I wanted to continue in the same way."

Palace are back in Premier League action this Saturday when they welcome Everton to Selhurst Park.
