Coventry City boss Tony Mowbray eager to keep James Maddison

Coventry City boss Tony Mowbray reveals that he is eager for highly-rated teenager James Maddison to remain at the club.

Coventry City boss Tony Mowbray has insisted that the club will do all that it can to keep hold of highly-rated teenager James Maddison.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League following an impressive campaign for the Sky Blues.

While admitting that there have been approaches for Maddison, Mowbray is eager for the youngster to remain at the Ricoh Arena.

"The phone has rung once or twice but the message has been loud and clear. We want to keep him," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"He's just starting on the ladder, let's get him in his boots and on the pitch for us. What's the point of going to a big club and training all the time? He needs to get his head down and work hard and bide his time and help us to be successful."

Mowbray committed his future to Coventry on Monday night by signing a new long-term deal with the club.
