Claude Le Roy quits Congo job

Claude Le Roy resigns as the head coach of Congo, amid speculation that he is to take charge of Cameroon for a third time.

Claude Le Roy has stepped down from his position as the head coach of the Congo national side.

The 67-year-old has taken the decision despite the fact that he oversaw a 6-4 aggregate win over Ethiopia last night, which in turn sent the Red Devils through to the third phase of the ongoing African World Cup qualifying campaign.

"After two formidable years, I've decided to embark on another adventure," he told reporters.

Recent suggestions have claimed that Le Roy was a contender to replace Volker Finke as the new boss of Cameroon.

The Frenchman has had two previous spells in charge of the Indomitable Lions, whom he guided to Africa Cup of Nations success in 1988.
