Jose Pekerman not worried about Brazil favouritism

Colombia boss Jose Pekerman does not believe that suspect refereeing will detract from the spectacle of his side's World Cup clash with Brazil.

Colombia coach Jose Pekerman is hoping that poor officiating does not spoil tonight's World Cup quarter-final clash with Brazil.

Yuichi Nishimura came under scrutiny after making a number of questionable decisions in favour of the host nation in the 3-1 win over Croatia in last month's curtain raiser.

Carlos Velasco will oversee tonight's last-eight encounter in Fortaleza, and Pekerman is confident that the Spaniard will produce an impartial performance.

"In terms of the referee I always have the hope of he has good performance," he told FIFA.com ahead of the contest.

"I don't have any suspicion and I don't think he will have any influence in the game.

"We know that there are mistakes in football from players, managers or referees but we trust in the good faith or credibility because all of them try to do their best."

The match is scheduled to kick off at 9pm.
