Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets rejects a lucrative offer to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, according to a report.

Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets has reportedly rejected a lucrative offer to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.

The 34-year-old midfielder has spent his entire club career with the Catalan giants, making a total of 701 appearances in all competitions since and including his debut back in 2008.

Busquets has won a total of 31 trophies with Barca, including eight La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues, and remains a first-team regular under head coach Xavi.

However, Busquets's long-term future at Camp Nou is believed to be uncertain as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

A recent report claims that Al-Nassr have expressed their interest in signing the Spaniard and are keen for him to link up with new recruit Cristiano Ronaldo.

Former Real Madrid man Ronaldo completed his move to Al-Nassr earlier this month, signing a contract allegedly worth £177m per season until June 2025.

According to Catalunya Radio, via AS, Busquets has turned down a €20m-a-year contract offer to join Al-Nassr when his Barcelona deal expires in the summer.

The report adds that MLS club Inter Miami still hold an interest in Busquets, but they are yet to make an approach for the midfield veteran.

Earlier this month, Xavi insisted that Busquets remains a "fundamental" member of his squad, telling reporters: "He has a contract until June and then we will see. It's more a personal feeling of his. How he sees himself in the team, for me, he is fundamental.

"It will depend on him, more than on the club and me, but we will try to convince him. Busquets still has six months left on his contract.

"We are focused on what happens this season and we have a lot at stake. We can't make plans. I haven't spoken to Busquets yet about continuing."

Meanwhile, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stated that Busquets's future may not be decided until the current campaign comes to a close.

Speaking to Que T'hi Jugues last week, Laporta said: "He is our captain and we are delighted with him at all levels. On the day of the match against Real Betis he will have played 700 games.

"He has proposals from the United States and I know he was thinking about it, but in principle he will continue with us until the end of the season. We'll talk in the summer, but I think he's still got time."

Al-Nassr have also been linked with potential moves to sign Real Madrid's Eden Hazard and Chelsea's N'Golo Kante, with the former having allegedly held talks with head coach Rudi Garcia.
