Report: Everton reject Chelsea's second bid for defender John Stones

Chelsea reportedly have a second offer of £26m for England international defender John Stones rejected by Everton.

Chelsea have allegedly had a second offer for England international defender John Stones turned down by Everton.

The Premier League champions were reported to have had an opening bid of around £20m for the 21-year-old knocked back earlier this month, and according to The Telegraph, they have now had an increased offer immediately rejected.

However, the paper goes on to claim that Jose Mourinho's side will go back for the defender a third time and that they are still confident of securing his signature before the summer transfer window shuts. It is thought that Everton will not be willing to sell their hottest prospect for less than around £34m.

Stones played 23 times in the Premier League for The Toffees last season and would become Chelsea's fifth signing of the summer if he were to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.
