Report: Chelsea to bid £20m for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino

Chelsea will reportedly launch a £20m bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino in the January transfer window.

Chelsea are reportedly planning to launch a £20m bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino in the January transfer window.

Manager Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen to sign the 22-year-old as a replacement for Radamel Falcao, who is expected to be released from his loan deal early.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues are willing to part with £20m for the England Under-21 international, who has managed three goals in 10 Premier League appearances this season.

Berahino was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, but the Baggies rejected the transfer, causing the striker to criticise chairman Jeremy Peace in a Twitter blast.

The forward has since been reintegrated into the team, but there have been reports that he is stalling over a new deal, sparking suggestions that he wants to leave The Hawthorns.

Chelsea have had a torrid season so far as they sit 16th in the Premier League table after claiming just three wins in 12.
