Chelsea's proposed move for Inter Milan defender Maicon looks to be in doubt following Real Madrid's late effort to sign the right-back.
The 30-year-old has been expected to sign for the Champions League winners for a fee in the region of £6.4m after the Spanish giants seemingly pulled out of the running to capture the defender.
It is understood that Maicon would opt for a move to the Bernabeu and Real boss Jose Mourinho is trying one last-ditch effort to sign the player, according to The Express.
Maicon signed for Inter in 2006.
