Liverpool are poised to launch a late bid to sign Ashley Cole before he pens a deal with Roma, according to a report.
The 33-year-old was released by Chelsea at the end of the season after the Blues decided against offering the defender a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Cole and his representatives are close to sealing a deal with the Serie A side, but Liverpool are ready to swoop in with an 11th-hour offer for the former England international, reports the Daily Mail.
The left-back made 26 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions last season.
