Chelsea and Lyon are reportedly in talks over a move for Italian left-back Emerson Palmieri.
Despite collecting a Euro 2020 winners' medal with the Azzurri in the summer, Emerson remains behind Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso in the ranks at Stamford Bridge.
With the former Roma man out of contract in 2022 and struggling to get a look-in under Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea are expected to sanction his sale in the current transfer window.
Emerson has been linked with a return to Serie A amid reported interest from Napoli and ex-employers Roma, but The Guardian now claims that Lyon are negotiating with the Blues over a deal for the defender.
The report adds that Lyon view Emerson as an ideal alternative to Layvin Kurzawa after talks with Paris Saint-Germain broke down, but Chelsea are prepared to demand a fee of £15m for their third-choice left-back.
Emerson came off the bench for the final four minutes of his side's opening-day victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend, and the 27-year-old boasts two goals and five assists from 71 games in a Chelsea shirt.
