Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Chelsea.
The recent appointment of Thomas Tuchel is expected to lead to Chelsea bringing in at least one new centre-back during the summer transfer window.
RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano and Bayern's Niklas Sule have both been identified as possible options by key figures behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.
However, according to Bild, Chelsea are also prepared to consider an approach for Boateng ahead of next season.
Despite making 21 starts during the current campaign, the 32-year-old is likely to depart the Allianz Arena on a free transfer later in 2021.
Chelsea already have veteran Thiago Silva on their books, meaning that Boateng may potentially be regarded as a replacement for the Brazilian should he opt to end his career in Brazil.
